Plan ahead
Have the essential conversation
We all seem to find it difficult to talk about death and dying. Maybe we think talking about it brings death closer, maybe we are concerned that we will upset people or sound sad.
But what if talking about death and dying – was seen as good, healthy, liberating, as a way of planning for life and helping us make the most of that life. What if talking about death and dying gave us confidence to ask each other questions, an opportunity to outline our wishes and ensure our concerns are acknowledged.
A booklet created by Age UK is designed to help us all start to talk to our family and friends about death and dying.
Planning and paying for your funeral
Putting you in control of your finances and your wishes
Planning for end-of-life expenses, particularly funeral costs, is a practical and thoughtful measure. Setting aside money specifically for this purpose can alleviate a significant financial burden on loved ones during an already emotionally difficult time. Whether through a dedicated savings account, community bank, a prepaid funeral plan, or a life insurance policy, saving for funeral expenses demonstrates a sense of responsibility and care for your family’s future. It allows for personalised choices regarding the service, burial, or cremation, ensuring your wishes are honoured .
Consider researching average funeral costs in your area, which can vary significantly, and factor in potential inflation. Regularly reviewing and adjusting your savings plan as life circumstances change ensures and that your funds remain adequate.
Call in or contact us in if you would like to talk to us and put your wishes in place, all the while helping you stay in control. All wishes put in place will be based on today’s prices and advice will be given to cover eventual inflation all of which is “payable-on-death” (POD).Regular communication with your family about these plans ensures that everyone is aware of your wishes and that the financial arrangements are understood.
